You can make online payments here using most major credit cards. While this method of payment is probably the quickest and easiest way to get money to YWAM Oxford, it is definitely not the cheapest. Credit card payments currently incur a fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. This amount goes directly to our credit card processing company and is not included in the total amount we receive from you (see fee calculator below).
Believe it or not, the absolute cheapest way to get money from an overseas account to us is via cheque (yes, apparently people still use those). If you happen to be one of those people who still own a chequebook you can write a cheque out to “YWAM Oxford” for any amount and either post/mail it to us, or bring it when you arrive. If you don’t have a chequebook you can also go to your bank and acquire a bank or cashiers cheque. There are no additional fees as long as there are sufficient funds in the account to cover payment. We accept any cheques (personal, company, church, bank, etc). We are not able to accept money orders.
Cheques should be made out to: “YWAM Oxford”
Make sure to put student name and school in the memo.
Cheques can be hand-delivered or mailed to our post-office box at:
PO Box 47
Oxford, North Canterbury
If you would like to make an international bank-to-bank transfer (also known as a wire transfer) we highly recommend using Transferwise. In our experience this is the cheapest (and quickest) way to complete a cross-border funds transfer and when compared with Western Union or standard bank transfers will save you quite a bit of money in both fees and inflated exchange rates.
Once you’ve signed up, the transfer process is relatively simple. Follow these instructions and use the YWAM Oxford bank details provided below to complete your tansfer.
For those of you hailing from the land of the long white cloud we have the privilege of 100% free bank-to-bank funds transfers (thanks to kiwi ingenuity and good ol’ market demand!). If you’d like to make a direct deposit to YWAM Oxford for student or staff fees, room deposit, donation or anything else please use the following account number. Please enter your name in the reference section and the purpose of your payment in the particulars.
Payment may also be made with cold, hard cash, however, please remember—do not put cash in the mail as it is illegal and could also be intercepted by others. You are welcome to bring cash with you or withdraw from local ATMs, however keep in mind that local ATMs have a daily limit on what you can withdraw (usually $500 NZD) and can often incur a substantial bank fee each time you use them. Please note that when using an ATM with an international card there are often hidden foreign transaction fees and inflated exchange rates to be aware of.
