The Heart of the School

The Fathers Love DTS is a Crossroads school for people of all ages to come into a revelation of Father’s Love and grow in their identity as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. This enables people to walk out their destiny in the freedom of true sonship rather than through a sense of obligation, duty or servitude.

The students will get the opportunity to experience what sonship looks like in the context of YWAM’s mandate and mission.

Who is it for?

The School is for people of all ages and there are possible options for families.  We are a family friendly base and try and accomodate children where we can.

What can people expect in the Lecture Phase?

Lecture Phase is a time of transformation, healing and seeing God’s redemption play out for many as we focus in on the first half of YWAM’s motto of “Know God and make Him known”.

During lecture phase the day begins by meeting together for worship, intercession, devotions etc  and this creates a  chance to be family.  Lectures then last until lunch time, with a short break for a deeply important Kiwi cultural tradition- morning tea!  Afternoons vary from small groups, to outreach preparation or free time.  There are occasional evening lectures but this is mostly free time.  We always try to strike the balance of providing an engaging, quality program while at the same time giving different personalities the space and time they need to process all the new things they’re experiencing.

Lecture Phase dates: 10 Feb – 27 April 2019

School Leaders & Staff

David & Mary S. •

Hello! We are from Michigan in the USA. We have been married for 37 years, have three grown children and eight grandchildren. Dave is a retired music teacher and Mary worked as a physical therapist assistant. We have always had a heart for missions, including living in Germany for nine years and working with a church there. We were introduced to YWAM through our son. We did two seasons of mission building in Kona, Hawaii before doing the Father’s Love CDTS in 2014. The reality of Father’s love and acceptance has changed our lives. We are hungry to grow deeper in His love and share it with others. We enjoy traveling, spending time at the beach and with our growing family.

Deborah Booth •

Hi, my name is Deborah, (Deb for short). I’m a local kiwi gal. I’m originally from the U.K. and I’ve been here 42 years. I’m a 5th generation Kiwi. I have three adult children and three grandchildren and my mom. I love being near my family, who all live in Oxford area minus one son, who is in London. I found out about YWAM through my missionary sister and I did my FMS in Matamata in 2006. I staffed a school in YWAM Oxford for the first time in 2011. My role here is the base butterfly. I love this base because it’s so cool here. I love being base momma, I love everyone, coming to the base keeps my heart and passion alive. I can be myself here. It encourages me so much seeing the lives of people changing and growing. My heart is for the body of Christ and connecting to the community as well.

Karen Ede •

Hello my name is Karen Ede. I will be returning to help staff the 2019 Fathers Love School. I have staffed previously for six years, I'm back to support David & Mary. This School and coming into the revelation of the Fathers Love changed my life. I found much healing for past wounds and found that I had a Heavenly Father that loves me dearly! I also fulfilled a childhood dream. I was blessed to travel three times with a team to Uganda and share The Fathers love with orphans and needy children. We helped start a preschool where these children could receive free education. They would not only be educated, they would be safe from harm where they were taken care of and fed one meal a day! Father blessed me but now He's sending me to bless others. Please come and join us on this years adventure! May our Heavenly Father heal, bless you and bring you into all He has for you too! Amen!

Melissa Jones •

I am currently at YWAM Oxford working as the Administrator and I also help out in worship. I love how God works through us in all spheres of society. I see God through His creativity. You will often find me capturing a beautiful scene on my camera or playing a new tune to praise Him on my guitar.
I really have a heart for young people including children, women, and so called outcasts of society such as the homeless.I have a heart to show all people hospitality and belonging in their identities as sons and daughters of Christ. So far being at Oxford has been encouraging because it's such a lovely family oriented environment with such amazing people. It has helped me grow a lot in my confidence and faith. I have also completed the School of Sonship in January of 2018; this really helped me to rest in the Father and further grow in finding my identity in Him.
I have a history of competitive alpine ski racing for New Zealand, which I retired from in 2014. Through that God really gave me a heart for people in such a high pressure environment, where it's almost impossible to measure up. It was a journey but I learned I didn't have to put that pressure on myself and that I was good enough as I was. I have also worked in a health shop and have a real passion for health in all aspects of life; not just physically but spiritually and emotionally too.
I believe New Zealand is such a special place...Look at how beautiful it is! People come here from all over the world so in a way it is like having the nations at your fingertips. We can reach so many different people groups right here on our doorstep!
