Ever wanted to combine your heart for Justice with overseas mission? If the answer is yes then this DTS is for you. Take what you learn and receive in the first 3 months of this DTS to the lost, broken and poor of this world as you travel to the nations in the outreach phase.
The Justice and Missions DTS is for those who want to see God’s Kingdom come in the nations of the Earth.

MEN: The world needs you. Your strength, stability and skills can transform lives! It’s stunning to see how the presence of a man of integrity influences people and gives them courage.

WOMEN: The world needs you. You are capable, strong and compassionate. Women around the world are cut off from society and devalued. You can change this!

All mankind is guilty of injustice. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Our sin is an injustice against God. Jesus saw this and paid the unthinkable cost to become our justice: “All are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus”(Romans 3:24).

The Justice and Missions Discipleship Training School is about knowing more of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It’s about learning to live justly in honour and thanksgiving to Jesus. The overflow of this is taking the transforming love, justice, and mercy of the Father to the oppressed, the victims, the suffering. We prepare for an outreach where we actively take part in the lives of those who need help.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL: We offer a $250.00 NZD discount for students who pay their deposit at least 3 months before the school start date. Apply early and save!

JDTS Lecture Phase

The first half of the JDTS involves 12 weeks of dynamic speakers who share relevant and life-changing teaching. These teachings give us the tools to apply them into the world around us.

Topics include:
• The character and nature of God
• Worship and Intercession
• Kingdom of God
• Biblical Worldview
• God’s Word
• Father heart of God
• Relationships
• The Lordship of Jesus
• Holy Spirit
• Spiritual Warfare
• Calling and Identity

There will also be teaching and preparation that centres around Justice and Missions as this is the heart of our school.

The schedule also contains a variety of activities to challenge and strengthen our relationship with God and with others, such as weekly small group interaction, classroom teaching, worship and intercession times, study time, community and base work duties, missions and outreach activities, as well as interaction with the local church and community.

Lecture Phase dates: 11 March – 25 May 2018

JDTS Debrief & Graduation

After outreach, teams return to New Zealand for teaching on Calling and Identity as students consider the next steps in their journey. We’ll also take a week to debrief what we’ve learned and then have a graduation and commissioning celebration at the end of the week!

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

Isaiah 61:1-3

JDTS Outreach

We will be praying about the outreach locations, which vary from year-to-year, as the next school draws near. In the past we have gone to Cambodia, Thailand, Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal, Israel and Palestine. Typically teams will focus on one area and serve alongside long-term workers, experiencing and learning more about how to bring change in spiritual and practical ways. It’s a challenging and rewarding time of stepping out in faith.

Outreach Phase dates: 26 May – 17 August 2018

Weekend and School Trips

There will be four inclusive weekend trips to different places around the South Island. These are a few of the possibilities: taking an overnight trip to the West Coast, going to Castle Hill and Cave Streaming, which you might recognize from movies like Narnia and Lord of the Rings. Sitting in the relaxing hot pools at Hanmer Springs, going on a hike/tramp, visiting Akaroa, a small French town or Diamond Harbour, one of the many bays in Banks Peninsula.

On the other weekends, there will be optional trips which would cost extra money to cover the cost of the use of vans and petrol. These trips could be to beaches like Taylor’s Mistake or Sumner, to different hiking locations around Oxford and the Canterbury plains, or into Christchurch to do some sightseeing in town. Budget around $100-200 for optional trips.

PLEASE NOTE: There is a mandatory $500 NZD transport and activity fee that is NOT included in your standard DTS costs. This must be paid in order to participate in the above activities.

School Leaders & Staff

Morgan • 25

Hello, my name is Morgan! I am 25, and I grew up in Saint Louis, Missouri in the States. I am the oldest of five kids, and I absolutely adore my family. My two younger brothers (Carsen – 17 & Gideon – 11) and two younger sisters (Kennedy – 22 & Avery – 14) and my lovely parents are some of my favourite people in the world. I have a heart for missions, the nations and discipleship and I found a home that houses all of those things here at YWAM Oxford.

I did a Justice DTS as a student back in 2014. One of the biggest revelations I had from my DTS is that God is good, which in a harsh world can be a hard truth to grasp. After going home for a season I came back to staff a Justice DTS in 2016 and then a Justice/Around the World DTS in 2017. I will be leading the Justice and Missions DTS in this season, and I am so excited to see what the Lord does during this time. My heart is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, moved by compassion to go into the world and love on those that others have cast aside. Really looking forward to you being a part of our family here at YWAM Oxford!

Beto • 19

I first got involved with YWAM when I was 16 on a week long mission trip to YWAM Las Vegas. I fell in love with the ministry, so I decided to return to Las Vegas the following summer and spent 8 weeks working with them. I soon discovered all the opportunities YWAM had to offer, so I decided to do the Skiers/Snowboarders DTS in Queenstown, NZ. During my lecture phase we took a road trip to Oxford and that was where I learned about this base and it's ministry.

After my DTS finished I decided to make a commitment serving in Oxford. I love anything to do with the outdoors, being here gives me so many opportunities to find an adventure. Music is a huge passion of mine, so you'll often find me playing guitar and piano in my free time. Also, I'm a softy for Disney and Pixar films, and I'm not afraid to cry during those movies.

Alec • 20

Hello everyone!

My name is Alec, and I will be one of your school staff. I am so excited about this next season for all that God is going to be doing in your lives. I did the Justice DTS, here in Oxford, in 2016, and during those six months God radically changed my life. I have been back on staff here in Oxford since July 2017, and God is still working in my life.

I am from the beautiful Boring, Oregon (yes, that is the town I am from). I am the youngest of six kids, and I am a recent uncle. I love coffee and all things relating to God. I absolutely love the Word and talking/discussing it. If you are ever wanting to talk about anything theologically related I’m always willing to talk! I love to be outdoors working on my farmers tan and working on the grounds.
One of the main reasons I am staffing the Justice and Missions DTS is because I want to see a new generations of followers of Christ who love and serve the Lord fearlessly. And, I want to see this generation have a heart for Justice and for the nations. When a person has this heart, God uses it for beautiful things. I look forward to meeting you all soon!
